Yannick Ngakoue Traded to the Vikings
Trade Details
The Jaguars send Yannick Ngakoue to the Vikings in return for a 2021 2nd round pick and a 2021 5th round pick that can become a 3rd round pick if the Vikings win the super bowl and Ngakoue gets invited to the pro bowl. Ngakoue's contract was taking up over $17 million against the Jaguars cap space and has restructured his contract so he will take up $13 million against the Vikings cap space.
A win-win slightly favoring the Vikings
There is no question, each team benefited from this trade. First and foremost, Yannick Ngakoue wasn't going to play for the Jaguars and was taking up $17 million against their cap. The Jaguars needed to get rid of him and even though he's a first round type of player, no team was going to give them that. The Jaguars now have enough cap to either make a run for Jadeveon Clowney or get some more star power on that team. For Minnesota this is an absolute win. Like I said earlier, Yannick Ngakoue is an early first round type of player and they got him for a second round pick. The Vikings also needed an additional pass rusher after losing Everson Griffen in the offseason. I think Danielle Hunter is a top 7 pass rusher in the NFL and to pair him with another top 15 guy is a big deal. The Packers had my least favorite off season in the NFL and Minnesota should be able to take advantage of a mediocre Green Bay team. Minnesota has two great edge rushers and still have a ton of draft capital in 2021. I'm taking the Vikings to win the NFC North and Yannick Ngakoue is a big reason why.
